How to Genuinely Enjoy Easter while Pregnant (+ Free Easter Printables)

One extra week of being pregnant is a blessing for me.

A blessing, and a curse at the same time, I feel like.

I try to concentrate on the blessing side so I won’t go absolutely crazy, and therefore I prepared this post early for you about how to genuinely enjoy Easter while being pregnant. It is richer than the  Christmas and New Year’s edition I wrote before, so join me!

I might not be in one piece by 21st April (my twins will probably be here) but I wanted to share how I would get myself ready for a celebration while I can hardly move around, or eat or drink anything, or just simply breath…

Easter is coming, and you are more and more pregnant - either by weeks, or by sickness. Don't think you need to miss out on the fun this year! Read my guide about how to genuinely enjoy Easter while Pregnant! You'll find ideas about hosting or not hosting a gathering, decoration, food, activities (for kids) all pregnancy friendly. Don’t Host a Gathering!

If you can, leave organizing a get together to someone else.

They should understand that you are not in a state to accommodate guests and jump around them, either because you’re in the early stage and probably sick all the times, or, like in my case, you’re too heavy to move around that much.

This is not the time to play the perfect host, this is the time for your body to be a host of your baby or babies, and serve them!

If You Must or Want To Host a Celebration

1. Hire a Cleaner

If you feel up for the game, that doesn’t mean you should kill yourself while trying to get the house and everything ready.

Leave the cleaning to a professional, it won’t cost a fortune for a couple of hours, and it worth it.

Trust me, you don’t want to get exhausted and overwhelmed with everything before your guests arrive!

Just think about how much time you can spend on nice decoration while someone else get’s your house in shape…

2. Go Easy on Decorations!

This year is probably not the one when you want to go over the top and decorate every segment of your home.

Make sure you don’t need to climb too high too many times, and listen to your body’s reactions, and take breaks!

You also don’t want to spend all your money set aside for the new bub at this party, so go on Pinterest and get ideas from there about decorations.

There are millions of them just waiting for you, just choose the budget-friendly ones, like the free printables at the end of this post!

3. Easy, Budget Friendly, Delicious Food

For the food section, I got you more than one ideas, you can choose whichever fits you, your guests and the occasion!

If the weather is nice, do a BBQ!

With spring and the nice weather coming, everybody loves to finally go out and have a nice BBQ!

Your guests going to love making their own food, and it’s going to be pregnancy friendly for you, also a unique experience.

Buy some sausages, buns, chicken breast slices, kebabs, burgers and other items that are good for grilling, and ask someone who loves handling the grill to make these, or let everyone take care of themselves.

Don’t forget to set a table aside, possibly under a roof that’s close to the garden for other things you need, like ketchup, mayo, mustard, buns and bread and other bakery products, vegetables, and drinks so everyone can choose from there, like a buffet.

Remember, you don’t want to be running around, you want to enjoy time with your family and friends!

Go classic with some sandwiches!

What is Easter with some ham and eggs, right? Combine them on pre-made sandwiches!

You can make so many variations out of ham, chicken, tuna, salmon, chorizo, eggs, lettuce, spinach, pepper, butter, cream cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayo, onions, cucumber, pesto, avocado, and different types of cheese that your guests will never run out of trying a new slice.

Make sure you leave some plain bread and ingredients out there for them to make their own versions, especially for fussy kids!

Don’t Bake or Bake it Easy!

You can buy hot cross buns and a cake in a bakery, it won’t make such a difference, your gathering can still be perfect!

If you definitely want to bake something yourself, however, just bake some muffins. They are easy and fast to make, and it’s going to be such a success with all the different Easter decorations you can create! For inspiration, check out Debbie’s round-up post on One Little Project.

Some bakeries surely do muffins with Easter decorations, check around your neighborhood or online and order some, so you don’t need to make them yet you have these clever creations for your people to enjoy.

4. Simple but Fun Activities for Kids

You want to entertain the kids, but remember how the cleaner nicely took care of your home? You probably don’t want to mess it all up more than necessary!

Remember that kids love to play with each other and most of them won’t be sitting at a table drawing and colouring for a long time.

5. Egg Hunt

If the kids are old enough to run around alone and collect the eggs, just set up your base in a comfy chair and supervise from there with your legs up and a nice, refreshing drink in your hand.

If you have younger company that needs help, probably let someone else do the egg hunting with them. It’s all about the sweets anyway, they won’t mind if it’s not you who’s helping them!

Now you are all Easter ready. Make sure you help other expecting mums prepare by sharing this post!

  1. Girl, you’re going to be a great mom! You already know what you need to do to stay sane. I over-did it with my first, and admittedly I still am! We just hosted an array of guests staying with us for 10 days for my daughter’s 2nd birthday, and I’m expecting our 2nd child. It. Was. Insane. Fun… but insane. Wish I would have found this first. I’ll definitely Bake it Easy next time. 🙂

  2. I will be about 30ish weeks pregnant with Easter this year and we’ve always hosted the get together in the past. This year we are still hosting but instead of doing all or most of the cooking, we’re going pot-luck style and I am so excited!

    1. Wow that sounds awesome! Well done in taking it easier! I’m 30 weeks this week and to be honest, I feel like everything has gotten twice as hard as it was even a week ago. Mind you I’m carrying twins, but still, some other twin mamas are running around like Duracell bunnies and I’m over here waking up and thinking about when I can go back to sleep again lol

    1. Precious, well, I’d rather use some different words to describe, but I think humanity is lucky not everyone has a difficult pregnancy like me! 😂 Thanks for stepping by! ❤️

  3. Oh I love your get a cleaner tip! Any suggestion that stops ME having to clean is welcome. It would make Easter so much easier and less stressful.

    1. I feel you totally. I generally hate cleaning, I was just telling this the other day to my friend who’s a cleaner and she loves it! She said she loves that everything is so nice and clean after… I told her I love a clean house, but I’d also love if someone else was cleaning it! 😄
